Top 6 features of online nursing programs

If you are thinking about going on an online nursing program, but you are not sure whether it would be right for you, then you might wonder what an online course can actually provide for you. There is some stigma around getting a degree online, and many wonder if it has the same educational standing as a degree earned through on campus learning.

1) Payment plans

One of the best things about online nursing programs is the fact that you will be able to set up a payment plan. Unlike on campus Universities where you have to pay in full upfront and therefore need to get a student loan, online courses allow you to pay the money in chunks. This effectively stops you getting into debt.

2) Personal tutor support

When learning in an on campus environment, the tutor will often have to share their time between up to 30 people. This means that if more than one person is struggling, with the given work then the tutor will not be able to help everyone straight away. Online courses often offer full 24/7 tutor support though, meaning that if you have a problem there will always be a tutor around to help you.

3) Support network you build

On campus learning is very much the same as school, in terms of who might be there. If you find that you don’t like your fellow students very much then years’ ahead will seems much longer than they have to be. However with online courses you do not run this risk. Often online schools will provide chat rooms or forums so you can speak to like minded students, but you are not forced to take part in them and you don’t have to speak to anyone that you don’t want to.

4) You can learn at your own pace

Most online courses do not have a deadline; instead you can take the work at your own pace. Meaning that if you find yourself struggling on something, you don’t have to worry about what others might think of you or falling behind the other people in your course. This can be a big weight of people’s minds especially if they are self-conscious.check more details on their latest comment.

5) You can learn around work

Another problem with on campus learning is that you don’t get to control the schedule. Classes are at a certain time and if you can’t make it, well you miss out. This isn’t the case for online courses though when you could be working full time as a nurse and still study for your BSN on the side, in your own time.

6) You can learn at home

Again a problem with on campus learning is that you have to be on campus, so if you don’t live near a University that provides the course you want to be on, then it means either a long commute or moving. With an online nursing program you don’t have to go further than your sofa, you can study in your own home and simply email or upload your work once it is done.
